NEET Paper Leak: BJP cannot escape from its responsibility of promoting corruption - Kharge
Party president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that unless the education system and autonomous institutions are freed from the interference of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the rigging and corruption in various examinations will continue.
Amid the controversy over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) and the University Grants Commission's National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), the Central government on Friday notified the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, aimed at curbing malpractices and irregularities in competitive examinations.
The Act provides for a maximum jail term of 10 years and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore for offenders.
Kharge posted on 'X', "No matter how much the BJP tries in the NEET scam, it cannot escape its responsibility of promoting rigging, corruption and education mafia."
He claimed that the law against question paper leak was not notified, but when Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was asked about it in the press conference, he said that this law has been notified.
Kharge said, "On February 13, 2024, this law got the President's approval, but the law was notified only last night." He questioned why the Education Minister lied?
He alleged that bringing a new law is just a BJP whitewash. The Congress president said, "Until the education system and autonomous institutions are freed from the interference and negative impact of the BJP-RSS... this rigging, theft, corruption will continue."
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi alleged that under the BJP government, the NTA has now become a 'no trust agency' and the examinations have become a horrific tragedy.
He posted on 'X', "Lakhs of hardworking children and parents of the country are falling prey to this tragedy brought by the BJP and the Education Ministry is playing committee-committee." Priyanka Gandhi asked, "When will the responsibility be fixed? When will action be taken?" It is worth noting that the NEET-UG exam is organized by the National Examination Agency (NTA).
