Rahul Gandhi blows 'flying kiss' in Lok Sabha: Know what Congress said

 NEW DELHI: Amid huge uproar in the Lok Sabha over Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's 'flying kiss', party sources have said that the party MP was pointing towards the benches of the ruling party in general and not any minister or minister in particular. This was not directed towards the MP.

A Congress leader said, "While walking out, Rahul Gandhi pointed to the benches of the ruling party and called them 'brothers and sisters' while blowing a flying kiss... He did not direct it at any particular minister or MP and Not at all towards Union Minister Smriti Irani..."

Union minister Smriti Irani, speaking soon after the former Congress president during the debate on the no-confidence motion against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, alleged that Congress MPs Before leaving the house, he blew a flying kiss.

 

 Smriti Irani said, "Those who were given the opportunity to speak immediately before me, indulged in indecency before leaving... Only a misogynist (anti-feminine) man can blow a flying kiss in a parliament that has women members." Sits... Such indecent behavior has never been seen before in the Parliament of the country..."

Later, speaking to the media outside Parliament, Smriti Irani said, "Never before in Parliament has the misogynist behavior of a person come to the fore... Laws are made, during a session, a man's misogyny is witnessed, so my question is, should he be put in the dock...?"

Union minister and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje said that several women MPs have lodged complaints against Rahul Gandhi with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. He said, "This is inappropriate and unbecoming behavior of an MP... Senior members are telling that this has never happened in the history of Indian Parliament... What kind of behavior is this...? What kind of leader is he... .. We have complained to the Speaker, and have demanded that CCTV footage of this (incident) be taken and action be taken against them..."
