Rahul Gandhi: Modi Government Has Ruined Economy, Defence Policy, and Foreign Policy; PM Will Do What Trump Says

He also claimed that any trade agreement with the United States would be on the terms of U.S. President Donald Trump, and Prime Minister Modi would do whatever the American President dictates.

Hours after Trump announced a 25 percent tariff on imports from India, he stated in a social media post that India and Russia could take their "ruined economies" to the abyss together, and it would not affect him.

When asked about the U.S. President's remark, Rahul Gandhi told reporters in the Parliament complex, "He is right. Everyone except the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister knows that India's economy is a 'ruined economy.'

He said, "Don't you know that India's economy is a ruined economy? The BJP has destroyed the economy. Why do you (media) look surprised?"

The former Congress president claimed, "The main issue before India today is that this government has ruined our economic policy, our defence policy, and our foreign policy. They are taking the country to the abyss."

He alleged, "The Prime Minister works only for one person (Gautam) Adani. All small businesses have been destroyed."

The Congress leader claimed, "You will see, this agreement will happen. Trump will decide how this agreement will be, and Modi will do what Trump says."

Later, Rahul Gandhi posted on 'X', "The Indian economy is finished. Prime Minister Modi has destroyed it."

Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Modi has ruined the future of India's youth because there are no jobs.

Referring to a comment by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his interaction with reporters in the Parliament complex, Gandhi said, "The External Affairs Minister says we have a fantastic foreign policy. On one hand, America is abusing you; on the other hand, China is after you. You send delegations across the world, but not a single country condemns Pakistan."

Rahul Gandhi alleged, "How are these people (Modi government) running the country? They don't know how to run the country. There is complete confusion."

Referring to Prime Minister Modi's speech in Lok Sabha, the Congress leader said, "He didn't mention Trump's name, didn't mention China's name. He also didn't say that no country condemned Pakistan. The one (Asim Munir) who orchestrated the attack in Poonch is having lunch with Trump, and they are saying we have achieved great success? What success?"

Rahul Gandhi said, "Trump has said 30-32 times that he brokered a ceasefire. Trump also said that five Indian ships were downed. Now Trump has said he will impose a 25 percent tariff. Has anyone asked why Narendra Modi ji is unable to respond?"

He added, "Understand who is in control."
