Three Indians Abducted in Mali, Efforts Underway for Release

(Fast Mail):-- Three Indian nationals working at a cement factory in the West African country of Mali have been abducted.

The kidnapping occurred during a terrorist attack.A series of terrorist attacks took place in various parts of Mali, with the Al-Qaeda-linked group 'Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin' (JNIM) claiming responsibility for them.

Following the abduction of the Indian nationals, India on Wednesday called on the Mali government to take all necessary steps to ensure their "safe and expeditious" release.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed "deep concern" regarding the abduction of Indians employed at the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes.

The ministry stated, "The incident occurred on July 1, when a group of armed assailants carried out a coordinated attack on the factory premises and forcibly took three Indian nationals hostage."
