US State Department spokesperson Ned Price resigns, Vedant Patel will be the interim spokesperson

Washington, Mar 9, (Fast Mail News):-- US State Department spokesman Ned Price has announced his resignation from his post. However, he will continue in his post till this month. He was appointed spokesperson of the State Department on January 20, 2021. Price started in the CIA as an analyst. Indian-American Vedant Patel will be the interim spokesperson after Ned Price steps down. Patel is now the Deputy Spokesperson.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Tuesday that Ned Price would be leaving the post this month. He also credited Price with reviving the State Department's daily press briefings, which had become erratic under former President Donald Trump.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that Ned Price has been the face and voice of American foreign policy to the people of America and around the world. He discharged his duties with professionalism and integrity. On behalf of our ministry, I thank Ned for his remarkable service. They said Ned Price treated reporters as well as colleagues and everyone in the room with respect during more than 200 briefings. A State Department official said Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel would temporarily take over for Price.

Price, who worked for the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Council during the Obama administration, resigned in February 2017 and openly criticized then-President Trump. Price then said he could not work with the Trump administration because of his criticism of the intelligence system. Price previously worked as a CIA analyst and then served as spokesman for the National Security Council in the Obama administration.
