You Tuber Jyoti Malhotra Arrested For Spying For Pakistan, Sent to Five-Day Police Remand

CHANDIGARH: India’s security agencies have intensified their crackdown on a spy network linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). In a joint operation, Punjab and Haryana Police have detained several suspects, with Hisar-based popular YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra emerging as a key figure.

Jyoti’s arrest followed the interrogation of a woman named Gajala, apprehended in Malerkotla, Punjab, which led to the disclosure of several other individuals connected to the espionage network.

Jyoti Malhotra faces serious allegations of spying and engaging in anti-national activities. Known for her travel YouTube channel, she was presented in court after her arrest and remanded to five days of police custody.

Hisar DSP Kamaljeet stated, “Based on information received on Friday, we arrested Jyoti, daughter of Harish Kumar, under the Official Secrets Act and Section 152 of the BNS. Suspicious items were found after seizing her mobile phone and laptop. She has been taken into five-day remand, and the investigation is ongoing. She was in constant contact with a Pakistani citizen.”

According to sources, Jyoti traveled to Pakistan three times in the past two years, as well as to China once, and to the UAE, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Thailand.

Investigations revealed that two years ago, she came into contact with Danish, an official at the Pakistan High Commission. During her visits to Pakistan, Jyoti allegedly met with intelligence officials and other suspicious individuals. Upon returning to India, she is accused of using her social media platforms to share sensitive information and promote a positive image of Pakistan.

Punjab Police arrested Gajala and her associate Yamin Mohammad from Malerkotla. During interrogation, Gajala revealed her role in transferring money from Danish to spies, while Yamin was also in contact with him.

Security agencies suspect that Jyoti not only leaked confidential information but also propagated anti-India narratives at the behest of the ISI. Some videos uploaded on her YouTube channel are under scrutiny for containing suspicious content.

According to the police, Gajala’s arrest helped unravel the espionage network. Her disclosures led to Jyoti’s detention in Hisar. Authorities are now conducting an in-depth investigation into Jyoti’s bank accounts, travel records, and her contacts. Meanwhile, raids have been intensified across Punjab and Haryana to apprehend other suspects.
