Uttarkashi Relief and Rescue Operations Continue : Over 400 People Evacuated, 9 Army Personnel Among Missing
According to official information provided by the Uttarkashi Police, 8 local citizens, 2 individuals of Nepali origin, and 9 army personnel have been confirmed missing in the disaster.
Relief and rescue operations are being conducted swiftly, with all relevant agencies working round the clock to address the crisis.
ITBP spokesperson Kamlesh Kamal stated, “By this morning, 413 people were safely evacuated, and from morning until now, an additional 57 people have been rescued. We have received information that around 100 more people are still stranded, and we are hopeful of evacuating them safely by evening. This morning, we recovered one body.”
In Harshil and Dharali areas, rescue and relief operations are being carried out by multiple teams, including the police, army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade, and revenue department, among others.
Both senior officials are closely monitoring the situation in the affected areas and issuing necessary instructions on-site.
A temporary bridge has been constructed in the Harshil area to facilitate the evacuation of people, making it easier to access affected areas and speeding up relief efforts. However, several sections of the national highway remain blocked, causing delays for rescue teams.
Additional police forces and relief teams have been deployed to the Dharali area. The situation is being closely monitored, and all departments are collectively working on relief and rehabilitation efforts.
