Will Vikram lander-Pragyan,sleeping on the moon wake up out of the freezer...Listen what former ISRO Chief says

NEW DELHI: The entire country including ISRO is waiting for Chandrayaan-3's Vikram Lander and Rover Pragyan to wake up sleeping on the Moon. Meanwhile, former ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair has explained in simple words what our lander and rover have gone through in the last 14 days. He said, 'Vikram Lander and Pragyan Rover are in deep sleep for about two weeks. It's like we see something in the freezer and try to use it.

Former ISRO Chief said that the temperature on the Moon would have exceeded -150 degrees Celsius at night. How the battery, electronics and the entire system will survive at that temperature is really a matter of concern. He said that of course, enough tests have been done on Earth to ensure that it will work even after such a situation. Still, we'll have to wait.

What will happen as soon as the sun's rays reach the moon's surface? G Madhavan Nair said that the heat of the sun will heat the equipment and also the charger batteries. If both of these things are done successfully then there is a better chance that the system will restart. Once it becomes operational, there is every possibility that we can travel further distances in the next 14 days and collect more data on the lunar surface near the lunar south pole.

Former ISRO Chairman Sivan said, 'We will have to wait and see. A night has passed on the moon. Now the day is starting there, so now the lander and rover will try to wake up. If all the systems are working then everything will be fine...this is not the end, a lot of new scientific things will come. There is still a lot of information coming out from Chandrayaan-1 data, so I am hopeful that a lot of new things will come. This is not the end of the story if scientists keep trying...'
