'If I was a casteist, I would not have married a Catholic Christian girl',says Tejashwi Yadav
PATNA: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said on Friday that there is anger and hatred in the society, which can be countered only with love.He called for rising above religion and caste, saying that some people call me 'casteist', but 'if I were a casteist, I would not have married a Catholic Christian girl'.
Tejashwi Yadav shared the stage with BJP MP from Patna Saheb and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad at a function at Patna Women's College. Tejashwi said that we have to rise above religion and caste. It is the constitution that runs the country. No religion asks us to fight. Today there is tension, anger and poison. It can only be fought with love.
Tejashwi recalled how the women's college was instrumental in making her father Lalu Prasad the president of the Patna University Students' Union. He said that Patna Women's College is playing an important role in empowering women. We will send top 100 students for further studies abroad. The Bihar government has earmarked 16 percent of the budget for education.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that we are on the way to create 10 lakh jobs. Three lakh jobs will be given in the education sector alone, 1.6 lakh jobs in the health department. He said, 'Our government has given 33 per cent reservation to women in government jobs. We are happy that 29 per cent of our police personnel are women. Tejashwi said that RJD has been giving proper representation to women.
