BJP-Nitish Kumar have made Bihar a 'crime capital' : Rahul Gandhi on the murder of businessman in Patna
Mr Gandhi said in a post on the social media platform X, "The shooting of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna has once again proved that BJP and Nitish Kumar together have made Bihar the 'crime capital of India'.Today Bihar is passing under the shadow of loot, shooting and murder. Crime has become the 'new normal' here - and the government has completely failed".
He further wrote, "Brothers and sisters of Bihar, this injustice cannot be tolerated anymore. The government which cannot protect your children cannot take responsibility for your future either. Every murder, every robbery, every bullet - is a cry for change. Now the time is for a new Bihar - where there is progress, not fear. This time the vote is not just to change the government, but to save Bihar."
Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar claimed on Sunday that the whole picture of this murder will be clear in the next one or two days. He said that several police teams kept raiding different places in Patna and Vaishali districts throughout the night.
Meanwhile, more than a dozen suspects have been detained, who are currently being questioned. The attacker who shot Gopal Khemka has been tracked in CCTV cameras installed not only at the crime scene but also in other parts of the city. The attacker's motorcycle has been identified, but his face could not be clearly identified as he was wearing a helmet.
The chilling murder has put the NDA on the backfoot at a time when it was targeting the Opposition bloc with the 'jungleraj' plank - a term used by rivals to refer to the RJD regime earlier in power in Bihar.
