Center invokes Article 355 in Manipur amid violence, shoot-at-sight order for ‘extreme cases’
IMPHAL:The central government has invoked Article 355 in the violence-hit Manipur to ensure security in the state. This Article 355 of the Constitution gives the center the right to interfere in the law and order of the state. By invoking 355, the Central Government has taken the responsibility of protecting the Imphal-Churachandpur road and the affected areas.
Under Article 355 of the Constitution, it is the responsibility of the central government to protect the states concerned against external aggression and internal disturbances in a state. Due to unrest and violence in the state for the last few days, the central government has taken full responsibility for the security of Manipur by invoking Article 355.
