In Just 3 Months, 767 Farmers Commit Suicide in Maharashtra: Rahul Gandhi Says, the 'System is Killing Farmers'
(Fast Mail):-- In a scathng attack,,the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has slammed the Modi government over farmers suicide in Maharasthra.Despite Maharashtra having a "double engine" government for years, farmers here are being forced to take their own lives, the LoP alleged.
The congress leader in a post on "X" said,"The national media also rarely highlights such issues. Most channels and newspapers are dominated by headlines about Hindu-Muslim issues, caste-religion, and India-Pakistan matters".
Recently, the Maharashtra government released data related to farmers that has shocked the entire country.
According to the data provided by the Maharashtra government, between January 2025 and March 2025, a staggering 767 farmers died by suicide in just three months. The majority of these farmers were from the Vidarbha region.
Targetting the Modi government over this issue,Rahul Gandhi said that this system is killing farmers, but PM Modi remains silent, engrossed in his own PR spectacle.

Rahul Gandhi further said, "Farmers are sinking deeper into debt every day – seeds are expensive, fertilizers are expensive, diesel is expensive... but there’s no guarantee of MSP. When they demand loan waivers, they are ignored. But those with billions? Their loans are easily waived off by the Modi government. Just look at today’s news – Anil Ambani’s ?48,000 crore SBI 'fraud'."
He added, "Modi ji had promised to double farmers’ income – today, the reality is that the lives of our farmers are being cut in half. This system is killing farmers – silently, but continuously, and Modi ji is watching his own PR spectacle."
It is noteworthy that the trend of farmer suicides in Maharashtra shows no signs of stopping.
According to media reports, approximately 2,635 farmers died by suicide in Maharashtra in 2024. Similarly, in 2023, around 2,851 farmers took their own lives.
