Israel-Iran Ceasefire Effective After Both Sides Violated It

Former U.S. President Donald Trump said that Israel is recalling its fighter jets and will halt attacks on Iran. He announced that the ceasefire, which was delayed for some time, became “effective” on Tuesday.

Trump pressured both sides to adhere to the ceasefire, posting on social media, “Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes will return. No one will be harmed, the ceasefire is effective!”

Trump clarified that he is not expecting a regime change in Iran, as a temporary ceasefire has been implemented.

Earlier, before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump expressed frustration at the White House over attacks that continued past the Tuesday deadline meant to halt hostilities.

“They violated it, but Israel violated it too,” Trump said.

“I’m not happy with Israel,” he added.

“I didn’t like that Israel started attacking right after we had an agreement. And now I’m hearing that Israel took action just because they thought a rocket violated their border, which didn’t even land,” he explained.

The Republican president expressed deep displeasure with both sides, while presenting the agreement—brokered by him—as a validation of his strategically risky initiative to conduct U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that Iran would halt its attacks if Israel desired, while Israel also confirmed it had achieved its campaign objectives and would cease attacks.

However, the temporary ceasefire broke down on Tuesday when Israel accused Iran of firing missiles into its airspace after the ceasefire was in place and vowed to retaliate.

According to state media, Iran’s military denied attacking Israel—but explosions were heard in northern Israel at noon, sirens blared, and an Israeli military officer reported that two Iranian missiles were destroyed.

Trump’s frustration was evident during his interaction with reporters, as he used profanity to emphasize his point.

“I’m not happy with them. I’m not happy with Iran either, but I’m also very upset that Israel attacked again this morning,” Trump said.

“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t even know what they’re doing anymore,” he added.

Later, the president warned Israel to stop its attacks on his Truth Social platform.
