Rahul Gandhi On Destroying Voting Data, Says 'Match is Fixed, This is Poison for Democracy'

(Fast Mail):-- Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has raised concerns over the Election Commission's directive to destroy footage recorded during the election process within 45 days.

On Saturday, he alleged that it is evident the "match is fixed," which is poison for democracy.

In a post on 'X,' Rahul Gandhi stated, " CCTV footage now will be erased in 45 days instead of a year." He further claimed that the one who should be accountable is destroying the evidence. He alleged, "It is clear—the match is fixed. And a fixed election is poison for democracy."

Notably, the Election Commission, expressing concerns about the potential misuse of its electronic data to create 'malicious narratives,' has instructed state election officers to destroy CCTV camera footage, webcasting, and video recordings of the election process if no court challenge is filed within 45 days.

In a letter written to state chief electoral officers on May 30, the Election Commission stated that it had issued instructions to record various stages of the election process through photography, videography, CCTV, and webcasting, along with multiple recording devices.
