Kharge: Government has stolen votes, discussion on SIR must in Parliament

(Fast Mail):-- Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, stated that the opposition has raised the issue of SIR (Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls).

The government should respond and hold a discussion, as the votes of many people from Dalit, tribal, OBC, and minority communities are being cut. If democracy is to be kept alive, a discussion on SIR must take place in Parliament.

He further said that if permission to discuss SIR is not granted, it would be against the Constitution.

He mentioned that SIR began in Bihar and is now being implemented across the country. He demanded a discussion on SIR, but the BJP government is evading it.

The opposition wants the House to function, but the BJP government is not allowing it to run. This is a vote-stealing government.

Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched an attack on the Election Commission. He said that 'one person, one vote' is the foundation of the Constitution, and it is the duty of the Election Commission to enforce it, but they have failed to do so.

Rahul Gandhi, citing the case of 124-year-old Minta Devi from Bihar, raised questions about the transparency of the electoral roll revision (SIR) in Bihar, noting that countless such cases have emerged.

He said, "The picture is yet to unfold."

Speaking to the media outside Parliament on the SIR issue, Rahul Gandhi said, "It’s not just one seat; there are many seats. This is being done at a national level and in a systematic manner. The Election Commission knows it, and we know it too. Earlier, we didn’t have proof, but now we have evidence. We are protecting the Constitution."

He added that the opposition is only safeguarding the Constitution and will continue to do so without backing down.
