Odisha: 7-year-old girl raped in Angul Bantala area

ANGUL: A 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth of a village  under Bantala police station on April 7 last. Though the incident happened on April 7,the father of the victim lodged an FIR in Bantala police station last Wednesday. Police though identified the accused couldn’t arrest him as he is absconding.

 Bantala police has registered a case of rape and conducting further investigation. Police said, the father of the victim belongs to Samastipur of Bihar and has been staying in that village under Bantala police station for the last twenty years. He runs a business of gupchup and goes here and there to sell gupchup.In the meantime, he had brought his seven year old girl child from his native district.

 

 On April 7, there was a function of Rama Navami at Nua Badakera where he went along with his child to sell gupchup. In the evening he continued to sell gupchup till the night when his daughter went to sleep. The father took his daughter to the nearby tent house to sleep. When he completed his business, the father went to the tent house and found his child was naked and the youth was doing sexual activities without any penetration. He immediately shouted as people gathered and thrashed the youth. Then at the village Musa Papuli there was a meeting of villagers on this issue as there was no agreement on compromise. The victim’s father after seven days came to Bantala police station and lodged a complaint.

“We have received the complaint from her father and registered a case of rape under BNS provision. We have identified the culprit and are looking for him. We will soon arrest him in this case”, said IIC Natabara Nanda.
