Pahalgam Attack : Shiv Sena (UBT) Blames Centre’s policies For Rising Violence In Kashmir

MUMBAI:  Shiv Sena (UBT) launched a scathing attack on the Central Government through its mouthpiece 'Saamna' regarding the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. The party blamed the Centre’s policies for the rising violence in Kashmir and questioned its failure to curb terrorism. The editorial stated that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah speak of tough measures against terrorism, the reality is that terrorists are crossing borders, infiltrating India, and killing innocent Hindus.

The editorial claimed that terrorists taunt tourists, saying, “Go, tell Modi what happened.” Shiv Sena (UBT) accused the Centre of refusing to take responsibility for attacks on Hindus in Kashmir. It pointed out that when violence occurs in West Bengal, the BJP demands Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, but the Centre evades accountability for recurring violence in Kashmir.

'Saamna' also questioned the revocation of Article 370, noting that in 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was made a Union Territory with claims that terrorism would end. However, violence persists, with 198 security personnel, 135 civilians, and 700 suspected terrorists killed in the Valley since 2019, indicating a lack of peace.

The party reminded the Centre of its 2014 election promises to Kashmiri Pandits, stating that the promise of their return to the Valley remains unfulfilled, and instead, Hindus are fleeing due to ongoing violence. The editorial asked what was achieved by scrapping Article 370 when “blood is spilled in the Valley every day.”

The Pahalgam attack was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, sparking nationwide outrage. Shiv Sena (UBT) demanded that the Centre take concrete steps to establish peace in Kashmir and combat terrorism effectively.
