Rahul Gandhi Claims Rigging in Around 100 Lok Sabha Seats in 2024 Poll

(Fast Mail News):-- In a speech at the annual legal conference organized by the Congress party's Law, Human Rights, and RTI Department in Delhi on Saturday, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleged that the recent Lok Sabha elections saw rigging in approximately 70 to 100 seats.

He claimed that if rigging had not occurred in even 15 of these seats, Narendra Modi would not be the Prime Minister of India today. Gandhi stated that evidence of this rigging would be presented in the coming days, particularly highlighting voter list manipulation in a Karnataka constituency as evidence akin to an "atom bomb."

Addressing the gathering, Gandhi said, "Today, Narendra Modi is Prime Minister with a very narrow majority. We believe that rigging took place in 70, 80, or even 100 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. If rigging had not occurred in even 15 seats, he (Modi) would not be the Prime Minister of India." He added, "In the next few days, we will prove how rigging can happen and did happen in a Lok Sabha election."

The Leader of Opposition further remarked, "Since 2014, I have had doubts about the electoral system. The (BJP's) ability to secure massive victories is astonishing. What happened in Maharashtra forced me to take this issue seriously."

He emphasized, "I couldn’t make claims without evidence, but now I can say without any doubt that we have proof." Gandhi asserted that this evidence would demonstrate that the Election Commission is not functioning as it should and has been compromised.

On Friday, Gandhi had claimed that the Election Commission was involved in "vote theft" and that he possessed irrefutable evidence, which he described as an "atom bomb" that would leave the Commission with nowhere to hide. The Election Commission dismissed these allegations as baseless and deplorable, accusing the former Congress president of resorting to threatening the Commission and its staff.

During the event, Gandhi also said, "Yesterday, my sister told me I was playing with fire, and I replied that I know I’m playing with fire and will continue to do so." He added, "Ultimately, like most of you, I too will be consumed by the fire. My family taught me not to fear cowards. The most cowardly thing you can do is to fear a coward."

Gandhi claimed that the ruling party’s ideology is largely based on cowardice. He also alleged that when he opposed amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill, the then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was sent to threaten him. Gandhi recounted, "I told him, perhaps you’ve forgotten who you’re threatening. A Congressman fears no one."

At the Congress Law Department’s event, party president Mallikarjun Kharge targeted the Election Commission over alleged voter list manipulation in Maharashtra, accusing the constitutional body of being a puppet in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) aim to change the Constitution, but the people will not allow it.

Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram accused the Election Commission of misusing Article 320 of the Constitution. He stated, "Article 320 was created to preserve the sanctity of India’s elections, but its powers are being used to destroy it."

Chidambaram warned, "If the special intensive revision campaign ongoing in Bihar is implemented across India, crores of people will be deprived of their voting rights. Instead of being a noisy, robust, and vibrant democracy, India will become a silent electoral democracy."

Abhishek Manu Singhvi, head of the Congress Law Department, accused the BJP of turning democracy into domination and its plurality into polarization. He stressed that India cannot be allowed to become a nation with one voice, one party, and one ideology.
