Security Forces Neutralize One Terrorist in Kulgam Encounter
The Chinar Corps posted on the social media platform 'X,' stating, "Firing continued throughout the night. Alert soldiers responded with controlled firing, maintaining contact and tightening the cordon. Security forces have neutralized one terrorist so far. The operation is ongoing."
The Indian Army has named this mission "Operation Akhal."
Security forces received intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the Akhal area of Kulgam district. Following this, the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly launched the operation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police posted on 'X,' "An encounter has taken place in the Akhal area of Kulgam district. SOG, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and CRPF are engaged. Further details will be shared later."
The police reported that both had infiltrated from Pakistan and were intercepted upon entering Indian territory.
On Monday, three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack were eliminated in a well-planned operation by security forces.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed Parliament that the three were identified as Pakistani terrorists responsible for the brutal killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam on April 22.
The ongoing encounter in Kulgam is part of the continued operations against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
