Trump Threatens India Again To Significantly Increase Tariffs on India in the Next 24 Hours'

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that India has not been a good trade partner and that he will significantly increase tariffs on the South Asian country within the next 24 hours.

In an interview with CNBC Squawk Box, Trump said, "What people don’t like to say about India is that it is the highest tariff-imposing country. Its tariffs are higher than any other country. We do very little trade with India because its tariffs are so high."

He added, "India has not been a good trade partner. It does a lot of trade with us, but we don’t do much trade with them. So, we agreed on a 25 per cent tariff, but I think I’m going to increase it significantly in the next 24 hours because they are buying oil from Russia."
