'Vote Chori' is being carried out in a planned manner in the country : Jairam Ramesh in Patna CWC Meeting

PATNA: Two resolutions were passed during the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting  held in Patna today in which one was political and the other was about “Vote Chori”.

AICC general secretary Jairam Ramesh  said that discussions took place on several issues in the CWC meeting in which senior Congress leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, were present. A total of 51 people addressed the meeting.

Jairam Ramesh said that in coming days, Rahul Gandhi will drop one bomb after another, and this has already begun in areas like Mahadevapura and Aland.

He alleged that “Vote Chori” is being carried out in a planned manner across the country and this is not just a coincidence, but part of a larger conspiracy.

Jairam Ramesh said that to turn this issue into a national movement, the Congress has decided to collect signatures from five crore people across the country from September 15 to October 15. These signatures will be submitted to the Election Commission so that the Commission can be held accountable.

Jairam Ramesh raised questions on the impartiality of the Election Commission, saying, "The Commission has now become a puppet in the hands of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister."

Jairam Ramesh also criticized the government on India's foreign policy. He said that Prime Minister Modi's diplomacy has badly failed. First, there were strains in relations with the US and China, and now news has come that Saudi Arabia has signed a security agreement with Pakistan. Relations with neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are also not the same as before.

Jairam said that the 'friends' on whom the Prime Minister relied on international platforms are now putting him in an uncomfortable position.

Speaking on the economic front, Jairam Ramesh described demonetization and GST as a 'double blow' to the country's economy.

He said that the GST implemented in 2017 was thrust without preparation, and the common people of the country and state governments had to bear the brunt of it.

“The Congress has been demanding GST 2.0 for a long time, but the government has not taken any concrete steps for eight years. Even today, when the government is reducing rates out of compulsion, the revenue has not increased, and states are not even getting compensation”,the congress leader said.

Jairam said that the central government has remained silent on the issue of caste census for the past eight years and is now saying under electoral pressure that the census will be conducted in 2027.

He said that this is the result of Congress's continuous pressure.

In the end, Jairam Ramesh said that this resolution was passed unanimously in the Congress Working Committee, and its background is clearly the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.

He said that now the time has come for the public to understand all these issues and question the government.
