10 dead, 35 injured as bus overturns in Maharashtra's Gondia

MUMAI: At least 10 people died and 35 others injured after an ST Mahamandal Shivshahi bus overturned while trying to save a car near Khazri village of Arjuni tehsil of Gondia district on Friday afternoon.

All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Acting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced to pay an ex-gratia of 10 lakh rupees to the families of each deceased. Shinde has ordered the treatment of the injured at government expense. Relief and rescue operations are ongoing at the site, so the death toll is expected to rise.

According to the police, the accident took place when a Shivshahi bus of ST Mahamandal was going from Nagpur to Gondia today suddenly overturned while trying to save a car near Khajri village of Arjuni Tehsil.

Getting information,the local administration,l police and rescue team immediately rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. According to police, the bodies of 10 people have been retrieved from the ST bus till the time of writing.Rescue operations were going on at the spot.

BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described the Shivshahi bus accident in Godinia as a very unfortunate incident.
