10 naxalites killed in encounter, arms cache recovered in Chhatishgarh

 Bijapur : At least 10 naxalites, including a female naxalite, were killed in an encounter on Tuesday morning in the forest of village Lendra under Gangalur police station area of the district. The jawans involved in the encounter also claimed that a large number of Naxalites were injured. Bastar IG Sundarraj P. confirmed the encounter and said that all the soldiers involved in the encounter are safe.

During the search operation in the area after the encounter, the security personnel found dead bodies of 10 Naxalites. Automatic weapons like BGL launchers, LMGs and large quantity of ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site.

 

 

 According to the information received from the police, the joint force of DRG, STF, COBRA and CRPF had left for the Naxal eradication campaign. On the morning of 02 April, security forces reached the forests of Korcholi-Lendra during a search operation. Meanwhile, Naxalites of Gangalur Area Committee started firing on the jawans. The Naxalites ran away in retaliatory firing by the jawans.

After the encounter ended, the security forces inspected the scene. During this time, a total of 10 bodies of Naxalites along with one female Naxalite and sophisticated weapons have been stored.
