Couple die in road accident in Talcher

ANGUL:In a tragic road accident occurred this afternoon at Godibandha chhaka near Talcher a couple had died when their motorcycle was run over by a speeding truck from behind.

The deceased have been identified as Madan Mohan Sahoo,48 and his wife Chaturi Sahoo,45.They belong to village Rajadang under Khamar police station.The deceased Sahoo was working as a teacher in Saraswati Sisu Mandir at Samal.

Police said,Madan was doing teachership at Samal and was staying along with his wife and children there.Today the couple had come to Talcher for work and were returning home in the afternoon. As soon as their motorcycle reached near Godibandha chhak, a truck from behind hit and killed them on the spot.

The truck was going from Talcher to Keonjhar.

After the accident took place locals got enraged and resorted to road blockade on NH-149 stalling traffic.They were demanding compensation and arrest of the truck driver.

Talcher police reached the spot and persuaded the strikers to end the blockade stating they had arrested the driver. After that the road blockade was lifted facilitating the traffic on that NH. It has registered a case and detained the driver. The truck also has been seized.
