Dalit Man Murdered and Body Burnt in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj

In a heart-wrenching incident in a Prayagraj village in Uttar Pradeshn under the Karchhana police station area of Yamuna Nagar, a Dalit man was allegedly murdered, and his body was set ablaze, according to police.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Karchhana) Varun Kumar has said that on Sunday morning, information was received about a partially burnt body found in a garden in Asauda village. The police team that reached the spot and identified the body as that of Devi Shankar (35).

The ACP further said that based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s father, Dilip Singh and others have been accused of Shankar’s murder. The complaint alleges that Dilip had called Shankar to work on wheat threshing.

He added that a case has been registered against seven individuals under relevant sections based on the complaint, and six people have been detained for questioning. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav had told PTI-Bhasha that Shankar (30) was murdered, and an attempt was made to burn his body. According to Yadav, it is alleged that the person at whose house Shankar had gone to work committed the murder.
