Dhenkanal: 33 villagers arrested by police for indulging in violence

 DHENKANAL:Rasol police have arrested 33 villagers of Bedapada belonging to General and Schedule cast communities for indulging in violence.

Three general class people who were attacked and injured by schedule cast people of the village were admitted to hospital. On of the injured was rushed to a private hospital at Bhubaneswar following his grievances injury.

Sensing cast flare up in the village, about three platoon of police force deployed in the village since yesterday .SP Abhinav Sonkar who rushed to the spot yesterday is monitoring the situation.

 

 According to additional SP Suryamani Pradhan,there was a cricket match yesterday between two groups of the village. In the meantime one motorcyclist, belonging to scheduled cast entered into the cricket field which was opposed by general cast people. Following the protest he retreated from the field while the match was going on. Then after a car belonging to general cast man also entered into the field and that was opposed by scheduled cast people. Then there was a heated exchange and attacked by scheduled cast people in which three general cast men were injured.

Police officials from Rasol and neighbouring police stations rushed to the spot and prevented a big clash.

In the evening general cast people retaliated by attacking and damaging houses of scheduled cast men in the village.

In the morning today police rounded up 22 persons from scheduled cast and 12 from general cast. The arrested were forwarded to court today.
