Dhenkanal police solved bomb blast case at builder house

DHENKANAL:Dhenkanal police have busted a well-knit extortionists gang who are indulged in wanton extortion from builders and contractors in the region.

The five member gang includes Soumya Ranjan Rout,27 Kanhu Behera,31 Sidhanta Mallik,28,Sujan Dehury,35 and Tabark Ali,26.All the accused belong to Dhenkanal town area. Police seized two live bombs,two mobile and two motorcycles from their positions.The gang leaders terrorized builders and contractors in Dhenkanal and its periphery for extortion. They, meanwhile, contacted the builder Susanta Sahu of Khamar Sahi and demanded money from him.Susanta ,according to police, declined to give any money to the gang. This has created anger among the gang members who decided to teach him a lesson. On Sunday last Sujan and Tablak on a motorcycle rushed to the house of Susanta and hurled bombs. The bomb was hurled at the wife of Susanta but the target was missed. It damaged the gate of the contractor.

Police said,after the incident they conducted investigation and reached to the culprits in the gang.All the five of the gang who are indulged in extortion have been arrested and forwarded to court.

Addressing a press conference, the additional SP Bhabani Shankar Udgata ,Suryamani Pradhan and SDPO Bibhuti Mohapatra claimed that within three days of the occurrence the matter was solved with the arrest of five persons of the gang.They said these criminals are having number of criminal cases in various police stations of Dhenkanal.They hoped that with the arrest the extortion which was going on will come to the rest.
