Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to receive UK's 'Lifetime Achievement Honour' in Delhi

 NEW DELHI:Former Prime Minister and Economist Dr. Manmohan Singh (90) has been honored with “Lifetime Achievement Honor” in London for his distinguished contribution in economic and political fields. He will be honored by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union United Kingdom (NISAU-UK) in Delhi a few days later.

To mark the completion of 75 years of India's independence, for the first time 75 people who have achieved achievements in various fields have been honored with the 'India-UK Achievers Honours', while some have been conferred with the 'Outstanding Achievers'. "Life Time Achievement Honor" in Oxford and Cambridge Universities Dr. Singh's contribution is underlined. Dr. "I am very grateful for this, which is very meaningful, because it is given by the youth who are the future of our country and the relationship between these two countries," Singh said in his written message.

 

 

 Singh, who was Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, said, “Our educational partnership has truly defined the relationship between India and the UK. The founders of our country, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Sardar Patel and many others studied in Britain and became great leaders and left a legacy that continues to inspire India and the world. Many Indian students have had the opportunity to study in the UK over the years.”

Lord Karan Bilimoria, a British citizen of Indian origin, was awarded the 'Living Legend Honour' at a ceremony held on 25 January. Bilimoria, Patron of NISAU UK, said that the people who have been honored are living bridges and their achievements have inspired people in the UK and India. Opposition Labor Party MP Virender Sharma in Britain was also honored with the 'Living Legend Honour'.

Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha, CEO of Serum Institute of India Adar Poonawala and Indian women's football team goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan are among those honored with the 'Outstanding Achievers' award.
