Indian cricket team chief selector Chetan Sharma resigns after sting controversy

NEW DELHI:BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma, who made many revelations to the players of Team India in the sting operation, has resigned from his post. He sent this resignation to Board Secretary Jai Shah. If reports are to be believed, Jai Shah has also accepted the resignation of Chetan Sharma. Chetan Sharma has been shown attacking players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah in the sting operation done by Zee News. He has also allegedly disclosed conversations with coaches Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli. Sharma alleged that despite being 80 to 85 percent fit, players take injections to make a quick return to competitive cricket.

The former India fast bowler also alleged that there were differences between him and the team management over Bumrah's return for the T20I series against Australia in September. Bumrah is currently out of the team and is unlikely to feature in the four-Test Border Gavaskar Trophy and subsequent three-match ODI series against Australia. Sharma also alleged that there was an ego battle between former captain Virat Kohli and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

The BCCI recently made Chetan the chairman of the selection committee for the second time. Earlier, he was removed after the poor performance of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup played in Australia.
