Madhya Pradesh: Fire Breaks Out in Gwalior Hospital, 190 Patients’ Lives at Risk
BHOPAL:More than 190 patients were rescued from a government hospital in Gwalior city, Madhya Pradesh, the hospital as a fire broke out late Saturday night inofficials reported. According to officials, no casualties have been reported in the incident.
Gwalior District Magistrate Ruchika Chauhan said that the fire started around 1 a.m. in the air conditioner of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the gynecology department at Kamla Raja Hospital, which is part of Gajra Raja Medical College.
Officials said that more than 190 patients, including 13 from the ICU, were rescued and transferred to another hospital.
Chauhan said that the hospital guards promptly broke the windows to evacuate the patients admitted to the ICU and shifted them to the Super Specialty Hospital,adding all patients from the ICU and other wards of the hospital are safe now.

A press release issued by the state’s Public Relations Department stated that the fire in the gynecology department of Kamla Raja Hospital was likely caused due to a short circuit.
The hospital guards and ward boys immediately evacuated the patients, and fire tenders from the Gwalior Municipal Corporation later brought the blaze under control.
