Rajasthan ranks first in the country in the production of coarse grains
Jaipur, Apr 5, (Fast Mail News):-- Rajasthan ranks first in the country in the production of coarse grains (millets). The state accounts for 28.6 per cent of the country's production of coarse cereals and 36 per cent of the area under cultivation.
On India's initiative, the United Nations has declared 2023 as the International Millet Year. Our country ranks first in the production of coarse grains in the whole world. There has been a global awareness of coarse grains being called superfoods. Its acceptance is increasing rapidly all over the world. Millet, Jowar, Ragi and Kodo are included in coarse grains. Scientists have given the status of nutritious grains to coarse grains due to the high amount of nutrients and the abundance of protein, vitamin-B and minerals in them. Scientists have agreed that millet, jowar, kangni, sawa, kodo, kutki and ragi grains should be included in the food for complete nutrition.
Kanaram said that the state government has started the Rajasthan Millet Promotion Mission in the year 2022-23 to increase the production of coarse grains and increase domestic consumption. Along with this, a provision of Rs 40 crore has been made for the establishment of 100 primary processing units for farmers, entrepreneurs and voluntary organizations. With a view to provide nutritious food, the state government has included coarse grains in the mid-day meal, Indira Rasoi and ICDS schemes.
