Modi Government’s Policies Have Pushed Youth into Despair: Congress Targets Centre on Unemployment

(Fast Mail):--Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh on Monday attacked the Central government over the issue of unemployment, alleging that the Modi government’s policies over the past 11 years have pushed the country’s youth into a pit of despair.

Citing a survey report by the Centre’s Statistics Department, Ramesh claimed that even under a government that considers just one hour of work per week as employment, only 51.7% of people have secured jobs according to its own metrics.

In a post on X, Jairam Ramesh wrote, “The Modi government’s new method to reduce unemployment: if you work just one hour a week, the government can count you as employed! The Modi government’s Ministry of Statistics prepared its latest survey report based on this very criterion.”

He added that the most shameful aspect for the government is that, despite loosening the definition of unemployment to such an extent, only 51.7% of people have found work.

The Congress leader further stated, “The same government survey revealed that women’s participation in economic activities is extremely low. In urban areas, only 23% of women were found to be engaged in any economic activity compared to 70.5% of men. This paints a picture of how dire the situation is—escalating education costs and dwindling job opportunities.”

Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh accused the BJP-led Modi government of driving the nation’s youth into despair over the past 11 years through its policies, while now shamelessly manipulating data to cover up this growing crisis.
