Supriya Shrinate Attacks Nitish Government, Raises Concerns Over Law and Order

PATNA: Opposition Congress in Bihar has slammed the Nitish government over rising crime rates today. Even in the state capital, Patna, businessmen are not safe, the party alleged.

Traders are becoming targets of criminals' bullets in broad daylight. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate has expressed concern over Bihar's law and order situation, holding the state government responsible.

According to her, the daylight murder of businessmen is a sign of "uncontrolled crime."In a conversation with news agency IANS, she said that crime in Bihar has become rampant, particularly in Patna, where businessmen are being killed in broad daylight.

Referring to the murders of Gopal Khemka and Ramakant Yadav, she stated, "Shooters are carrying out crimes fearlessly, but the police are unable to catch them."Shrinate also expressed concern over the rising crimes against women and children in the state.

She said, "Over 2.12 lakh women have been victims of crime in the state, with 98 percent of cases still pending. Additionally, more than 62,000 cases of rape against children have been reported. Neither women, nor children, nor businessmen are safe in Bihar. The state ranks second in the country for cases of murder and attempted murder."

Citing the example of a girl in Muzaffarpur who died after suffering in an ambulance for eight hours, she questioned the administration's failure. The Congress spokesperson also accused the state government of promoting organized crime.

She said,"The government claims there is no organized crime, but tell that to the families who have lost their loved ones. Crime is crime, whether organized or unorganized. The government has failed to curb crime."

Shrinate also raised questions about the credibility of the Election Commission. She noted that the Supreme Court has mentioned the use of Aadhaar, voter ID, and ration cards, but concerns are being raised about the process of Special Intensive Review (SIR) for voter lists in Bihar. She asked, "When a review was already conducted in January, why is the process being repeated after six months? Aadhaar is valid in Patna but not in Seemanchal. Why this double standard?"
