Talcher: Contractual worker dies in MCL Balaram mine
He died instantly when a large iron beam fell upon him while he was working in the erection work at about 11.30am today. The accidental death evoked tension in the area but was pacified by local MCL authorities. According to a report, a contract agency called Engineering Project India Limited(EPIL) has taken a contract to construct Silo in Balaram coal mine.
It has engaged contractual workers for the election of the Silo and the construction of the belt conveyor. Today several contractual workers wereon job for erection work in the site. Suddenly an ion beam fell upon Dusmanta crushing him to death.Senior colliery officials including Project officer U Patnaik rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
The IIC Gopal Prasad police station Bikash Samal said so far there is no case reported in the police station as the family members of the deceased are on the way. He said a case will be registered and inquiry will be conducted. Workers meanwhile alleged, there is lack of safety measures in the coal mine which have laid to the accident.
