The Parliament of the country has also agreed that the quality of Delhi's air is improving - Chief Minister
New Delhi, May 1, (fast Mail News):--Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced a summer action plan based on 14 focus points with the intention of further improving the air of the capital Delhi, saying that even the Parliament of the country has accepted that Delhi's air quality is improving. Delhi's air pollution has decreased by 30 percent from 2016 to 2022-23.
To bring about further improvement in this, we will effectively implement the Summer Action Plan along with the people of Delhi. Under this, strict steps will be taken to stop dust pollution, open burning and industrial pollution. Along with this, other steps including solid waste management, real time source apportionment study, increasing green cover, development of lakes and dialogue with neighboring states will also be taken.
The Chief Minister said that out of 365 days in 2016, there were 26 days in the severe category. During this time there was a lot of pollution and the air quality index was more than 400. It has reduced to just 6 days in 2022-23. Very poor and severe had 124 days in 2016, which has come down to 72 days in 2022. In 2016, there were 109 days of Satisfactory, Good and Moderate, which has become 163 days in 2022. Now the number of good days has increased in Delhi.
Announcing the Summer Action Plan, the Chief Minister said that some immediate steps would be taken and some long-term steps would be taken under the Summer Action Plan. This summer action plan has been prepared after meeting with 30 government departments. These include Environment, DPCC, Development Department, Cantonment Board, CPWD, DDA, Delhi Police, Revenue, DSID, Education, DMRC, PWD, Transport, NHAI, Delhi Jal Board, MCD and NDMC, among others.
14 focus points of summer action plan-
1- Dust pollution
Dust pollution is most observed during summer. To prevent dust pollution, 84 mechanical road sweeping machines are being installed so that the machines can clean the roads. In addition, 609 sprinklers and sprinklers and 185 mobile anti-smog guns are being installed. These machines are available with the Delhi government. In addition, 70 Integrated Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines and 250 Integrated Water Sprinkler Machines are being procured. Water will be sprinkled once or twice a week. Apart from this, 225 patrolling teams are being deployed in the afternoon and 159 patrolling teams in the night time in Delhi, which will keep an eye on the sources of dust blowing and take steps to stop them. The sources of air pollution in all the 13 hotspots will be identified on the basis of real time apportionment study and action will be taken accordingly. Created a new rule. In which construction sites of more than 500 square meters will have to register by visiting the web portal of C&D, which will be continuously monitored. Currently 750 sites have registered.
2-Open burning
To stop the practice of burning garbage in the open during the day, 220 patrolling teams have been formed, which will monitor it. Similarly, 176 teams have been formed for the night. An SOP has been prepared to prevent incidents of fire at landfill sites.
3- Industrial pollution
PNG is being used in all registered units to prevent industrial pollution. But garbage is dumped illegally in industrial areas. To stop it, 33 teams of DPCC and DSIDC have been formed.
4- Solid Waste Management
There is now Aam Aadmi Party government in MCD also. Now, together with MCD, a process is being prepared to fix the entire solid waste management of Delhi.
5- Real time apportionment study
Trying to find out the actual location of pollution with the help of real time apportionment study. Mobile Air Lab will be deployed in all the 13 hotspots for a week, so that the real factors of pollution can be found there and action will be taken on the basis of that.
6- Plantation
To increase the green cover in Delhi this year, a target has been set to plant 52 lakh saplings. Out of this, 42 lakh saplings will be planted under the Summer Action Plan. Along with this, 4 lakh plants will be distributed free of cost.
7-Tree Transplantation Policy
Tree Transplantation Policy in Delhi is very successful. In this, it is now being tried that out of the trees which are being transplanted, more money should survive. This is being emphasized. Special teams are being constituted to monitor the increase in the survival rate of transplanted trees.
8-Development of City Forest
A total of seven city forests are being developed in Delhi. It will have eco-friendly trails, cycle paths, bird watching decks, canopy walks, seating areas, open interpretation signage, etc.
9- Urban Farming
400 workshops will be organized for urban farming. In this, free training kit will be provided to the people.
10 Development of Delhi's lakes
Together with the Delhi Jal Board, work is being done on a large scale to make Delhi a city of lakes. The reality of the presence of 700 lakes in Delhi will be checked. At present, restoration and revival work of about 100 water bodies will be done by the land owning agencies in the plan.
