Major Conspiracy Foiled !150 kg Ammonium Nitrate Seized in Tonk; Used in Delhi Blast

SRINAGAR: The District Special Team (DST) in Rajasthan's Tonk district has seized a large quantity of explosive material today. The operation was carried out during a blockade in the Baroni police station area on the Tonk-Jaipur National Highway-52.

According to report, the DST stopped a car coming from Bundi towards Tonk, and upon searching it, explosive material was recovered. Police arrested two youths riding in the car—Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi—on the spot. Both accused are said to be residents of the Karwar area in Bundi district.

During investigation, it emerged that explosive mafias had filled around 150 kg of ammonium nitrate in urea sacks to mislead the police. During interrogation, the accused claimed they were taking it for agricultural purposes, but when police conducted a thorough search of the car, the truth came to light.

Additionally, 200 dangerous explosive cartridges and approximately 1100 safety fuse wires were recovered from the vehicle. Later, upon examining the sacks, it was confirmed that they contained ammonium nitrate, not urea. Its Use Had Also Emerged in the Blast That Occurred in Delhi.

The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of DST in-charge Omprakash Choudhary. Ammonium nitrate is commonly used in stone mining, but it is classified as an extremely dangerous explosive.

In recent days, its use has also come to light in a blast that occurred in Delhi, which further increases its sensitivity. According to DSP Mrityunjay Mishra, police are investigating the entire case in depth. Efforts are being made to determine whether the explosive material was being taken for illegal mining or if there is suspicion of a larger conspiracy behind it.
