Three construction workers killed in road mishap in Dhenkanal

 DHENKANAL:Three construction workers were killed in a road accident that occurred near village Khairamunda on NH-55 near Parjang this morning.The mishap occurred when a speeding private bus hit the motorcycle they were travelling in from behind of the highway killing the mason Sagar Pradhan on the spot.Two others seriously injured Sumanta Parida,55,Soumya sahoo,22 were rushed to Kamakhyanagar sub divisional hospital from where they were referred to Dhenkanal district hospital.The duo succumbed in the hospital after being admitted ,police said.

The incident occurred while the trio were going to a construction site nearby on a motorcycle. While Sagar 24 was working as a mason, two other dead were the daily labourers.

All these three belong to the local Naupalakateni village.

 

 Following the mishap local villagers blocked the national highway 53 linking Talcher to Duburi for four hours demanding compensation. The blockade lifted after the intervention of local administration and Kamakhyanagar DSP Gyana Mishra.

While the bus was seized the driver absconded. A case has been registered in Parjang police station in this regard.

“After being informed about the incident we rushed to the spot and managed to shift two injured to the hospital. We also seized the bus which was going from Jajpur road to Talcher. Immediately there was a rasta rook and we initiated talks to the agitating villagers. Blockade lifted after four hours resulting in hundreds of vehicles stranded at both sides of the road. A case has been registered in Parjang police station in this regard”, said DSP Mishra
