Two killed in road mishap on NH-55 in Dhenkanal
DHENKANAL:There is no end of mishaps of NH-55 with two more deaths occured today.The deceased were identified as Pinu Dhal,30 and Subrat Mohapatra,28.While Pinu belong to Chandra Sekharpur village under Dhenkanal Sadar police station Subrat hailed from Sora area of Baleswar district. Both were working as collection agent of local HDFC bank of Motonga.
Sources said,both Subrat and Pinu were going from Dhenkanal to Meramandali on a motorcycle.At about 2pm today a speeding truck while trying to overtake ran over them killing them on the spot.After the incident,the driver of the truck absconded .
After the mishap, locals gathered and blocked the NH for sometime demanding proper compensation and steps to control the rising incidents of mishaps.
The IIC,Motonga police station Jitendra Mallick said, “On our investigation, we found that the accident occurred while the truck tried to overtake the motorcycle.The truck has been seized but the driver fled away.The bodies were sent for post mortem.We are looking for the absconded driver who will be in police net soon.”
The rising incidents of accidents on NH-55 running spreading over districts of Angul and Dhenkanal have raised concern among the local population.
