Fox News host Pete Hegseth will be America's new Defence Secretary, Trump announces

WASHINGTON: The next Defence Secretary of the United States will be Fox News' famous host Pete Hegseth. Pete Hegseth's analysis on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars has been in the news. Newly elected President Donald Trump on Tuesday choses him as his next Defence Secretary. Pete will lead the Pentagon, America's military headquarters, and 1.3 million soldiers.

The New York Times reported that Hegseth's choice was outside the norms of a traditional Defence Secretary. He has been a devoted supporter of Trump during his first term. Pete Hegseth adopted Trump's "America First" agenda of trying to withdraw American troops from abroad in his talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

 

 Announcing Hegseth's name as the next Defence Secretary, Trump praised his war experience and support of the US military. Trump said that Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. Under Pete's leadership, the American military will be great again.

Hesketh joined Fox News in 2014 and has been the host of Fox's New Year's coverage for years. A native of Minnesota, Hesketh is a graduate of Princeton University. He has been the publisher of the conservative magazine The Princeton Tory. According to Fox News, he has a master's degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Hesketh's book 'The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free', published in June, has been a best seller. In his statement, Trump has praised this book.
