Gangster-Politician Mukhtar Ansari Dies Of Cardiac Arrest At 63

LUCKNOW:Bahubali Mukhtar Ansari, lodged in Banda jail, has died of a heart attack. The medical College of Banda has confirmed his death and the police administration has tightened security arrangements across Uttar Pradesh. Section 144 has been imposed in Mau, Ghazipur and Banda districts, according to police.

The mortal remains of Mukhtar Ansari are likely to arrive on Saturday afternoon. According to his family members, his body will be buried in the ancestral graveyard of Ghazipur. This graveyard is about four hundred meters away from his house. His mortal remains will be buried in this cemetery.

Two hours after Mukhtar's death, at about 12.30, his body was taken from the Medical College to the post-mortem house. As soon as the post-mortem of the dead body reached, police forces were deployed there to maintain law and order situations there.

Mukhtar reached the assembly for the first time by winning from Mau Sadar Assembly in 1996 on a BSP ticket. After this, he became an independent MLA in 2002 and 2007. Then, he formed his new party named Qaumi Ekta Dal and won the 2012 assembly elections. In the year 2017, Mukhtar Ansari won the election from BSP. He won the last three assembly elections while in jail.

Mukhtar's one son Abbas is currently serving his sentence in Kasganj jail, while the other and younger son Omar Abbas had come to the medical college two days ago to see his father. People close to the family said that as soon as Umar was informed about his father's death by the administration, he fell down on his chair with a thud.

According to close relatives, Umar will reach Banda within some time. He said two days ago the police personnel did not even allow him to see his hospitalized father through the mirror and today when he is no more in this world, the same police is calling him to shoulder his funeral pyre. In such a situation, how would these officials know what would be going through the heart of a son?

According to Umar, ever since he came of age, he has spent many years without his father. He was confident that someday he will get his father's shoulder to rest his head, but little did he know that he will never get that shoulder now.

Mafia Mukhtar Ansari, known as Don of the East, ever since he lodged in Banda jail , there has hardly been a day when he did not wish to be sent from UP jail to another jail. This was the reason why he himself did not realize that he was suffering from blood pressure, diabetes and stomach disease. Apart from this, he has been sentenced to life imprisonment in two or three consecutive cases. At the same time, from the day Atiq and his brother were murdered in the state, fear of law and death had been injected to Mukhtar's heart and mind. Such were the circumstances that each day he spent in jail in fear and at last he last his breath

Two days ago, when Mukhtar was brought from jail to the medical college as his condition worsened, brother Afzal and son Omar Abbas had expressed fear of their father's death. Serious allegations were made against the jail administration. Afzal  said,”An attempt has been made to murder his brother for the seventh time. This time too, on March 19, he was given poison in his food”. At the same time, son Umar had also blamed the administration and said that he was not even allowed to meet his father, let alone look from the mirror.

According to jail sources, Mukhtar's health started deteriorating from Thursday afternoon. As soon as the information was received, a team of three doctors from the district hospital reached the spot and examined his health. On Thursday, Mukhtar had eaten only a little khichdi.

Mukhtar Ansari, who was lodged in Banda jail for about two and a half years, died of heart attack (cardiac arrest) late on Thursday night. Even though Mukhtar had many supporters in Banda district, everyone had kept a distance from him ever since the JCB roared at the houses of his supporters. Even a few selected people from the district did not go to meet him in jail.

Perhaps this was the reason why even when he was living the last moments of his life, leave alone in jail, no one of his own was seen anywhere near the medical college. Some supporters of Mukhtar definitely remained in touch with his family members and kept informing them about the situation outside the medical college, avoiding the administration. Till late at 11 pm none of his supporters were seen around the medical college.
