Injured tusker treated successfully in Hindol range

 DHENKANAL:A 35-year-old tusker who sustained severe leg injury and almost in movable was successfully cured by forest officials of Hindol range and released him to wild last night.

Report said,the injured elephant having wound on his rear right-side had been wondering in Dhenkanal and Angul division for somedays.It was not known till how the injury was created.However,the animal was treated successfully by vertiney doctors and it is moving slowly.

Dhenkanal DFO said, on Sunday morning at about 9am the forest squad of Hindol range spotted a tusker was sleeping at Karnapur beat of Hindol section. They smell something wrong with the elephant and informed higher authorities. Immediately, a medical team was rushed to the spot and started treatment.

 

 The DFO said, the animal was brought under sedation after which it was known that there was a big injury on his  rear right-side leg. Then treatment was done with anti-biotics and  other drugs on the wound. The treatment was successful.

Then after the elephant was fixed by a radio collar for tracking his movement in the jungle and monitoring his health conditions. The tusker, in the late night was released after being treated successfully to the wild and constant tracking is being done on his movement and health.

“We are watching the elephant who has been separated from his herd for four to five days and then after next course of action will be taken. As of now,the tusker is moving slowly after his wounds were teated.He is now spotted in nearby jungle area under Hindol range”, said the DFO.
