Pallahara village stuck by alarming tick (tinka) problem

 ANGUL: The villagers of Srirampur under Batisuan Panchayat of Pallahara sub-division are under attacks by thousands of ticks (Tinka) for the last seven days making their normal lives very difficult. The ticks mostly come to the human body, houses, trees and everywhere forcing people to stay indoors.

The village consists of around 1,000 populations and by today almost all are affected by invading ticks. A villager said at the onset of the evening thousands of ticks come down on the village and stay put on the houses, trees and other structures in the villages when the villagers stay indoors. He said the ticks started coming about a week ago and the number and magnitude increased day by day. Today there are thousands of ticks found in the village.

 

 The villagers also said, in day time also, the ticks come and settle on the human body, including children forcing them to rush to local Khamar and Pallahara hospital. The villager also regretted despite intimations to local administration nobody has come to the village to see their problem. They demand immediate administrative measures to drive the ticks away from the village.

Pallahara sub-collector R Patel said that he was aware of the problem and asked hospital authorities to visit the village and take the remedial measure.

Congress leader Jagadananda Pradhan said, he will speak to Angul collector to send a medical team to the affected village to find a remedy of the tick problem. He said Pallahara is always neglected by district authorities in such health matters. He threatened to go for agitation if steps are not taken to solve the tick problem.
