Star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne named captain of Belgium football team

Brussels, Mar 22, (Fast Mail News):-- Manchester City star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been named captain of Belgium following the retirement of Eden Hazard. There were few changes in the Belgian camp following the exit of manager Roberto Martinez and 32-year-old Eden Hazard surprisingly announcing his retirement. In the 2018 World Cup, Belgium lost 1–0 to France in the semi-finals. Everyone had high hopes from Belgium in the 2022 World Cup as well, but they were knocked out at the group stage itself.

The Belgian posted a video on their social media in which De Bruyne expressed his feelings after becoming the captain of the Belgian Red Devils. He said, "It is a proud moment to be the captain of the national team. I have been representing Belgium as a footballer for a long time. It is an honor to represent it in this way. I hope to fulfill that role." I can handle it well."

De Bruyne has previously served as Belgium's captain several times. He last captained the side against Croatia in their final group stage match of the 2022 World Cup. De Bruyne has made 97 appearances for his country and scored 25 goals.
