Asian Games 2023: India wins 100th medal as women's Kabaddi team win Gold

NEW DELHI: India has now set a new record by winning the gold medal in the women's Kabaddi event.The final match of the women's Kabaddi event in the Asian Games was played between India and Chinese Taipei.

This thrilling match was won by the Indian women's Kabaddi team by a margin of 26-25. This is India's 100th medal in the Asian Games 2023. For this reason this medal is being considered very special. India had never won 100 medals in the Asian Games till date. This is the first time that India has scored a century in terms of medals in the Asian Games.

India made a strong start to this match. They took the lead in the beginning itself, but after this the Indian women's team started losing its lead in defence. After the first half, the Indian women's team was ahead with a lead of 14-9.

Even in the beginning of the second half, India maintained its lead and at one time with a lead of 16-9, India left Chinese Taipei far behind. But from here Chinese Taipei made a comeback and reduced India's lead considerably. They took full advantage of the mistakes made in defense by the Indian women's team and came back in the match to stand at 14-16. Here the match started becoming very exciting and at one time Chinese Taipei had taken the lead in this match. But in this thrilling match till the last minute, India again gained the lead and did not let it go and in the end won the match.
