Bihar Election: Tejashwi Yadav files nomination from the Raghopur Assembly constituency

PATNA: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav filed his nomination from the Raghopur Assembly constituency on Wednesday amid a large gathering of supporters. He was accompanied by his parents, former chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi.

“People of Raghopur have shown trust in me twice. I have been contesting elections from this constituency and will continue to do so,” Tejashwi said after filing his nomination papers.

Taking a jibe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi said, “Nitish is not running the JD(U) anymore.”

He alleged that the party is now being controlled by Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha, and Vijay Choudhary, suggesting a growing rift between Nitish Kumar and JD(U) leaders. “These three leaders have been sold to the BJP and have destroyed Nitish Kumar,” Tejashwi claimed.

Meanwhile, on the election front, the Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday released its first list of 57 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, following several rounds of discussions within the party leadership over seat-sharing under the NDA alliance.

Among the key names, Anant Singh has been fielded from the Mokama constituency, a seat that has drawn significant political attention in recent weeks. The JD(U) has also announced candidates for four constituencies that were earlier claimed by Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), signaling a calculated move to reinforce its influence within the NDA.

Following discussions among all constituent parties, the JD(U) and BJP had decided to contest 101 seats each in the NDA alliance.

Meanwhile, the opposition Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has not been able to reach a consensus on seat sharing so far.

Bihar will go to the polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, and the results will be declared on November 14. The last date for filing nominations for the first phase is October 17.
