Jasprit Bumrah begins rehab at NCA, Shreyas Iyer to undergo lower back surgery
Mumbai, Apr, (Fast Mail News):-- Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has started his rehab management at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after his successful lower back surgery, while middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer is scheduled to undergo surgery next week.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared the medical updates of both these players on Saturday.
In an official statement, the BCCI said, “Jasprit Bumrah underwent successful lower back surgery in New Zealand and is now pain-free. The specialist advised the fast bowler to start his rehab six weeks after the surgery and accordingly, Bumrah has started his rehab management at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from Friday. At the same time, Shreyas Iyer has to undergo surgery next week for a lower back problem. He will be under the supervision of a surgeon for two weeks and will then return to the NCA for rehabilitation."
Bumrah is away from cricket since September 2022. The right-arm fast bowler suffered a back injury last year and recently underwent back surgery in New Zealand. He is currently recovering from his injury and no one has an answer for when he will return.
Iyer, on the other hand, returned from a back injury earlier this year, and was ruled out again after playing two Test matches in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He has also been ruled out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League due to a lower back problem.
