BJP is treating state step-motherly treatment to Himachal over pending relief
He stated that the Central Government should immediately release the pending disaster-related funds for Himachal Pradesh.
The death toll from cloudbursts and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district has risen to 10, with the search continuing for 34 missing individuals.
Officials reported that on Tuesday, the state witnessed 11 cloudburst incidents, four flash flood events, and one major landslide, with most occurrences in Mandi district. These events have disrupted normal life.
Kharge posted on the social media platform ‘X,’ “The news of loss of life and property due to heavy rainfall and landslides in Himachal Pradesh is extremely distressing. The government and administration are engaged in relief and rescue operations on a war footing.”
Kharge claimed, “Before the onset of this year’s rains, the Himachal government had sought a relief package of ?9,000 crore from the Centre. In the 2023 tragedy, the Congress-led state government provided ?4,500 crore in special assistance, but the Modi-led Central Government gave only ?433 crore to the state.”
According to him, the Modi government recently announced ?2,000 crore for 2023 in a hurry and the BJP is now trying to take credit for it, but the relief amount is still pending.
He alleged that the BJP’s attitude towards Himachal Pradesh is stepmotherly.Kharge said, “I hope this time, instead of taking credit, the BJP will provide actual help for the losses.”
