RSS-BJP's Mask is Off Again, They Want Manusmriti, Not the Constitution : Rahul Gandhi

 By Jagadananda Pradhan
(Fast Mail):--
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has once again exposed its true intentions, claiming that it prefers the “Manusmriti” over the Constitution, in response to RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement about reviewing the words "socialist" and "secular" in the Constitution’s Preamble.

In a post on X, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote, "The mask of the RSS has come off again. The Constitution troubles them because it speaks of equality, secularism, and justice."

He alleged,"The RSS-BJP does not want the Constitution; they want the Manusmriti. They aim to strip the rights of the Bahujans and the poor, enslaving them once again. Snatching the powerful weapon of the Constitution from them is their real agenda."

He asserted that the RSS should abandon this dream, as it will not succeed. Every patriotic Indian will defend the Constitution until their last breath.

Notably, despite widespread opposition to Hosabale’s statement, neither the Modi government nor the BJP has refuted it; instead, their statements seem to endorse it. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan supported Hosabale’s remarks, even stating that secularism is not part of our culture and that the word "secular" should be removed from the Constitution’s Preamble.

The Congress, sharing Shivraj’s statement, remarked that these comments by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are the result of a well-thought-out conspiracy by the BJP-RSS to abolish Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution.

First, the RSS General Secretary made a similar statement, and now a Modi government minister is echoing the same tune. However, they emphasized that Babasaheb’s Constitution is the soul of India, and they will protect it at all costs. The Congress vowed that the BJP-RSS’s intentions will never succeed.

Earlier, addressing an event on the Emergency, RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale had said, "The Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar did not originally include these words in the Preamble. During the Emergency, when fundamental rights were suspended, Parliament was non-functional, and the judiciary was crippled, these words were added."

He noted that while the issue was discussed later, no attempt was made to remove them. Hosabale added, "Therefore, whether they should remain in the Preamble or not should be considered."
