At least 3 Dead, Several Injured in Stampede near Puri’s Gundicha Temple During Jagannath Rath Yatra
Reports said, on Friday during the Rath Yatra, around over 700 devotees were taken to hospitals due to exhaustion and crowd pressure.
Over 230 devotees were admitted to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), while approximately 520 others were treated at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Most were discharged after first aid, but one critically ill devotee was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. At least 12 patients are in the ICU.

The deceased have been identified as Basanti Sahu from Bolagarh in Khorda district, Premakanti Mohanty, and Prabhati Das from Athantara village under Balianta block.
According to the administration, over 10 lakh people participated in the two-day Rath Yatra celebrations. On the first day of the yatra, Friday, more than 10 lakh devotees took part, leading to significant crowd pressure.
