Khamenei Rejects Direct Talks with Washington,Says Iran Will Not Bow

TEHRAN:  Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that the U.S. opposes Iran because it wants Iran to submit to its demands, which he called humiliating, asserting that Iran will never yield.

According to sources, citing Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Khamenei, in a speech in Tehran on Sunday, said there is no need for direct talks with the U.S.

He noted that U.S. hostility has persisted since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Referring to an attack on Iran on June 13, he said groups linked to the U.S. met in a European capital the next day to discuss a post-Islamic Republic system, even suggesting a monarchy.

Khamenei said the strength of the Iranian people and institutions thwarted these efforts.

He also mentioned attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, aimed at destabilizing Iran, but said Iran responded effectively.

Khamenei called for domestic unity and support for President Masoud Pezeshkian, warning that Iran’s adversaries are now trying to create internal divisions.

He condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, urged Western countries to stop supporting it, and justified steps taken by Yemen’s Houthi group against Israel.

Notably, relations between Tehran and Washington broke down after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the subsequent U.S. embassy hostage crisis. Since then, Washington has imposed several sanctions on Tehran, the most recent due to its nuclear program.
